Cracks in concrete silos can be verticals, horizontal or spider web shaped.

Causes of cracks can be as follows:
   • Inadequate reinforcement
   • Improperly designed
   • Reinforcement not installed during construction
   • Bending of walls caused by asymmetric emptying and filling pressures
   • Loss of bond on reinforcement bars
   • Delamination of concrete in plane of bars

Repair methods may include:
   • Grinding cracks out to remove faulty material
   • Caulking of the cracks
   • Grouting the crack or fault
   • Painting the structure
